AT NSBJJ we have Adult Programs for Beginners and Intermediate - Advanced Practitioners:
Our Adult Beginner Program is for Adults with less than 6 months experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In this Program we focus on a Self-Defense Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Curriculum and Positional Drilling. Beginners do not “Spar” or “Free Roll”. Our Beginner Classes start with Jiu-Jitsu specific warm ups and exercises to learn proper body awareness, how to take a fall, how to stand up from a fall, hip escape movements, etc. The class then proceeds to drilling the shown techniques with a partner for a specific time limit, followed then by drilling the position with a partner at 30-50% resistance to better learn and obtain the technique. The Beginner Program follows a rotating set curriculum to help the beginner to progress to the next level of their Jiu-Jitsu training.
Our Intermediate/Advanced Program is for Adults with 6+ months or more of consistent training and experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In this program we also start with Jiu-Jitsu specific warm ups and exercises, followed by instruction, drilling the movements with a partner, timed positional drilling and “sparing” or “free rolling”. We also follow a set curriculum in this program where we explore different positions, submission and intricacies of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a specific amount of time.
Tips for BJJ:
Go slow! Practice is practice, not competition.
Be consistent with training.
Be a good training partner.
Practice good hygiene, keep your uniforms clean, keep nails short.
Don’t be hard on yourself! Jiu-Jitsu is a journey, not a destination, always remember why you started Jiu-Jitsu in the first place.
New to our NSBJJ Adult Programs, Intro to Striking Class!
This is a perfect class for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Students. Each class is taught by Professor Danny Morera who has extensive training in Karate (1st Degree Black Belt), Kickboxing and Boxing. We start students out with the basics of punching, kicking, knees, elbows, distance management, and not to mention TONS of cardio! Not only will you learn the proper techniques of striking, you will also get in great shape, plus work reaction time and speed which can help tremendously with BJJ Training.
